Our rustic hand crafted log furniture is made by
using mortise and tenon journey method.
The mortise and tenon joinery method produces
one of the strongest joints in woodworking for angled joints
(i.e. chair styles, door members, etc.).
Dresser Drawers are constructed using dovetail
jopinery.
The dovetail joint is also a form of mortise and tenon
joinery.
A dovetail joint or simply dovetail is a joint technique
most commonly used in woodworking joinery.

At Whispering Pines Log Furniture we have a commitment

Whispering Pines Log Furniture is located
south of Killbuck, Ohio in the rolling hills of Coshocton County.
A few years back while walking through the woods, I spotted an
unusual looking aspen tree with unique character. At the time,
I was building rustic picture frames from old barn siding and
thought that the log would come in handy for a project someday.

It was my wife that suggested to me the log,
if used with other unique logs, would make a beautiful bed. While
I was building our log bed, I experienced how much craftsmanship
and design goes into building log furniture. It was after building
our bed that I knew I had to share the unique style, strength
and beauty of log furniture with others |

Each piece of furniture from Whispering Pines
Log Furniture is handcrafted from quality logs and lumber. We
use traditional mortise and tenon joinery, along with reinforcement
of 3/8" dowel rods to make the joints last a lifetime. Our
end tables, chairs and coffee tables are totally constructed
from wood, using 3/8" dowel rods instead of screws. Each
piece of log is carefully selected to bring out the most stunning
character and beauty. |

Our red pine bedroom sets are complete with
king, queen, full or twin size beds, six drawer dressers, five
drawer chest and night stands. The dresser drawers are constructed
using dovetail joinery. The night stands can be custom build
to suit the height of any bed, but are standard at 27".
The red pine logs used for the beds, night stands and dressers,
are collected from local forest. We also use local aspen and
white pine logs for chairs, end tables and coffee tables. |

For our cedar end tables and coffee tables,
we use northern white cedar logs from Northern Michigan, along
with red cedar boards for the tops. The lighter logs are a beautiful
contrast to the darker red cedar top. We like to mix and match
red cedar and white pine tops with cedar, aspen and red pines
logs to give a variety of choices to the customer. |
